I am the founder of Trailblazing Tails, a company dedicated to enhancing the lives of dogs and their humans through innovative, behavior-conscious products and education. As a mother of two and a devoted dog parent, my mission is to create a safer world for children and dogs while fostering a deeper understanding of canine communication.
With a background in industrial/organizational psychology and counseling, I developed a strong foundation in behavior and learning. In 2007, I launched Trailblazing Tails as a dog running service in Los Angeles, quickly realizing how much there was to learn about practical canine behavior training. Since then, I have immersed myself in the study of dog behavior—continuously expanding my expertise through professional education, industry conferences, and hands-on experience with every dog I meet.
I believe that improving human-canine relationships starts with understanding how dogs communicate. My work focuses on designing lightweight, intuitive tools that enhance this communication while providing accessible, science-based education to counteract misinformation.
Trailblazing Tails is built on inclusivity and education. We welcome all dog lovers, regardless of experience, and strive to empower them with knowledge and tools that promote positive, lasting relationships with their dogs. My core goals include:
- Reducing dog bite incidents, particularly among children—77% of bites involve a family or friend’s dog.
- Developing thoughtful, behavior-based products that address everyday challenges while prioritizing a dog’s well-being.
Since 2016, I have been handcrafting high-quality products using BioThane®—a waterproof, odor-proof, and highly durable material made in Ohio. Sustainability is integral to our process; we actively reduce waste by repurposing scrap materials into enrichment tools, modifying workshop equipment, and upcycling furnishings whenever possible.
Above all, I am most proud of the education we bring to the industry. Advocacy for animal welfare and strengthening human-canine bonds drive everything we create. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of dogs and their people.
